Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS) plans to hire up to 40,000 freshers on India ‘s campus in the midst of a coronavirus crisis that has eaten up into many jobs. Despite a sharp drop in revenue in the quarter ended June on account, TOI posted. The firm, India’s largest IT exporter, is also considering doubling its US campus hiring to nearly 2,000 this tax to minimize reliance on H-1B and L-1 work visas.
“Our main bottom-building strategy doesn’t shift. The 40,000 (in India) can become 35,000 or 45,000 — that’s a tactical call we’ll make,” said TCS EVP and global HRD head Milind Lakkad.
Besides engineers, TCS has hired students from top 10 B-Schools in the US. Hired freshers and seasoned practitioners for important business positions. Lakkad said local delivery wasn’t unique. “We just had to upscale,” he said. Since 2014, TCS has recruited 20,000 Americans.
The business honoured last year’s 40,000 deals in India. The freshers will enter mid-July, the study. Around 87 percent of the 40,000 are on their online site, Lakkad said. “Each week, about 8,000 to 11,000 recruits undergo electronic tests. Since joining, over 8,000 fresh recruits completed one or more digital certifications.”
Last week, TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan said the company is selectively recruiting laterally, despite the optimistic demand climate. “In the last quarter, we indicated that lateral offers would be frozen due to uncertainty but honor all outstanding offers.”
