Book Name: Tamas

Author Name: Bhisham Sahni

It’s a very lucid book with glimpses of Hindu Muslim riots. The story is twisted and somehow real.

Bhisham himself saw the riots in the novel, Rawalpindi.

It basically follows Nathu ‘s trajectory. He’s Hindu, bribed by a Muslim politician. He kills a pig, later found near a mosque.

Tensions increase and riots erupt. They kill too many people of different faiths. Muslims kill hindus while hindus kill Muslims.

While controlled, the riots leave an indelible impression.

That’s how Bhisham explains the partition woes. It’s a pretty emotional account!
